Well, here we are at the end of the year already! These last few days of 2010 are a perfect time to reflect upon the events of this past year and to look ahead with anticipation and promise as to what we have to look forward to for 2011.
The plus size fashion industry has been in the process of a revolution over the past few years.
One of the things that I have learned these past few years is that the industry as a whole moves very slowly. More like evolution, rather than evolution. However, it still moves and I like the cycle we are in now.
While we still see bias when it comes to plus size as evidenced by Maura Kelly’s post about CBS-Television’s sitcom, Mike and Molly, I’d like to think that we have made some inroads with the One Stop Plus and their Fashion Show in NYC this past Fall and models like Lizzie Miller who represents real women so beautifully.
So…I predict that more plus size designers will take up the mantle for plus size women and give us clothing that fit into our busy lives. This includes current fashion designers like Toula, who has completed its first season’s collection for Saks Fifth Ave.

Having a variety of plus size offerings in the store, will lead to increased demand for plus size fashion, both on line and in-store. Funny how that works.
We will continue to see a trend in plus size seasonless dressing with yoga-inspired pieces. Diane Kennedy (check out the pants) and Comfy USA

are perfect examples of easy-to-wear, easy care, year-’round dressing.
I am looking forward to hearing more about The Curvy Revolution’s Plus Size Convention at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas February 18-20, 2011. I will be in Vegas during that week for my buying trip and hope to pop in and say Hi and see what’s going on. I think we’ll see more conventions of this nature.
I also believe we will see more plus size resources and directories such as the new plus size search engine, Plus for Us.
And….here’s my wish for each one of you! May you have a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year and May All of Your Dreams Come True!
Cheers! Drink some champagne and celebrate your accomplishments this past year!
See you in 2011!
