Fashion trends come and go so quickly it can be hard to keep up. But there are some wardrobe staples that are always in style, year- after-year. By mixing trendy pieces with a few classic essentials, you can have a wardrobe that always looks on trend.

The first item on the list: a classic trench coat. A trench coat is great during changing seasons when you don’t need a heavy coat, but still need something to protect you from cooler air. The trench coat is a classic look that will add style to your overall look.

A white shirt is eternally stylish and classic. It can be dressed up with a pencil skirt, pearls, and heels to go to the office. Or give it a casual weekend look by rolling up the sleeves and wearing it with your favorite pair of worn in jeans.  This Neon Buddha Artisan Shirt is a new twist to a classic favorite.

Layering pieces such as this Sympi cardigan can become vital in cooler weather when you need added warmth.

Ballet flats have been a favorite of classic fashion icons for decades. They look both cute and casual and work with any look. A neutral color will go with any outfit, but you should also try ballet flats in a variety of colors to add a complimentary splash to your look.  We love these Atillio Guisti Leombruni Quilted Ballet Flats at Nordstrom.

Pencil skirts have been a staple of the office wardrobe for years, but this classic piece can be worn for other occasions too. Pair it with a T-shirt and flats for a casual look, or dress it up for a party by adding sparkle or lace. A pencil skirt adds sexiness and shows off curves, making it a piece that looks great on any woman.

Leather jackets add an edgy touch to any outfit. Wear it to a party over a girly dress to add toughness to a sweet look. It can always be worn with jeans and a T-shirt for a casual Rebel Without a Cause look. A good leather jacket will only get better with age as it’s broken in and if it’s taken care of, it will last you forever. Don’t be afraid of making an investment on this piece!

Chances are you need a good coat to get you through winter’s chill. So why not invest in one that will last you years and never go out of style? A wool coat will keep you warm, and you can find one in variety of colors. A neutral such as brown or black is a good bet, but colors such as red or green can also be classic while adding a touch of color to your winter look. Or go with a white coat to match the season!

Another wardrobe essential is a good tote such as this Michael Kors Susannah tote from Macy’s. Every woman needs the right bag to carry her life around in, so invest in a piece that will last you through many seasons. Leather is a good option that will stand the test of time, but other sturdy fabrics such as canvas will also last for a long time. Choose a tote in a color that coordinates with most of your wardrobe and you’ll never have to worry about your bag matching your outfit.

Nude shoes add length to legs and work with both casual and dressy looks. A pair of nude heels will make your legs look super long and sexy with a little black dress. They can also be worn with a pair of skinny jeans and a T-shirt for a more casual, but still super sexy look.

A shirt dress is another classic wardrobe staple that can go from day to night, weekday to weekend. A shirt dress looks office appropriate with a nice pair of heels and a leather belt. Or pair it with flats or sandals for a casual look. A shirt dress can also be worn other ways, such as unbuttoned and layered over another dress.

With these ten wardrobe essentials, you can be both stylish and classic year after year. Some pieces may require an investment up front, but they’ll pay for themselves as they last you through many seasons without ever going out of style.

Can fairy tales come true in ALL sizes?   Well, according to this teen it does!

Walt Disney Princess

Jewel Moore, a high school junior from Farmville, Va.  has asked The Walt Disney Co. to create princesses with more realistic measurements and looks.

In Disney’s newest animated film Frozen, the mermaid’s eyeballs are bigger than her wrists?

Moore is on it.  She has started a petition on Change.org asking Disney to create a plus-size princess in an upcoming film.

Great idea, kudos to Miss Moore! Go sign the petition!
