Oh, you gotta love Howie… Sometimes he needs a smack.
Last Monday, Howard Stern called Dunham, “a little fat girl who kind of looks like Jonah Hill” and ranted about his “Girls” grievances. Stern said, ”I learned that this little fat chick writes the show and directs the show, and that makes sense to me because she’s such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on,” Stern complained.
Today, he did a 360 and said that he was sorry because he has come to love the show and Lena Dunham, the producer and writer and now, two-time Golden Globe Winner, one for Best Actress in a TV Comedy Series and the other for TV Comedy. Dunham looked cute as she tried to maneuver her heels in her Zac Posen gown.
Dunham’s acceptance speech showed grace and class and maturity beyond her years. She said, ”This award is for every woman who felt like there wasn’t a space for her,” said the 26-year-old writer-actor, who an unknown until last year, with the premiere of her comedy about the travails of young women living in New York.
Dunham said on the Late Show With David Letterman, “I did find out that Howard Stern really hates (the show), “I’m a Howard Stern fan and I really think that he has earned the right to free speech and he should just go for it. But he did say something that I thought was so funny that I want to get on my gravestone, where he said, ‘Congrats to her, it’s so hard for little fat chicks go get anything going these days.’ And it put me in the best mood!
“I just wanted to be like, my gravestone says, ‘She was a little fat chick, but she got it goin’.”
She certainly did.
