Last week we looked at Color and Denim as examples of excellent on trend styles for Fall.  This week we are continuing the discussion with the following trends:

Leather- A quality made leather piece will always be in style. For plus sizes this fall, leather jackets and skirts are popular. Choose to wear one piece of leather at a time paired with a more subtle piece for balance. Leather is so versatile it can be casual or supper dressy. Quilting and texture leather pieces are being seen in stores and all over the runways. Invest in a piece you love and feel good in and you will be able to wear it on many occasions.

Boots – Another myth is if you have a fuller figure boots will make you look larger. Boots are here in a big way for the fall and winter seasons. A boot actually balances out proportions sometimes better than a slim shoe. Both short boots and long styles are on trend this season. One of the most popular styles is an equestrian feel with straps and buckles.  Take a look at these Fitzwell Wide Calf Riding Boots!

Prints – Many larger women shy away from prints thinking they are not flattering. This fall’s trends show how prints are being interpreted for all sizes. Animal prints continue to be a favorite in fashion such as this Kiyonna Portia Pin Up Dress. This season bold graphics and plaids are also in high demand. A great way to incorporate them into your closet is a fabulous coat.

This fall try one or more of these trends to spice up your wardrobe. Take yourself out of your comfort zone and do not pay attention to others when they talk about what styles or prints plus sizes should wear. You will be happy you took a chance in your fashion choices. It will open your eyes to a completely new way of thinking about how curvy women can dress.

The arrival of the fall season has brought many exciting fashion trends. Fashion has evolved greatly over the years in its view toward plus sizes. Designers and the fashion industry are making interesting and exciting clothing for women of all sizes. Here are a few of the seasons must have trends that can be enjoyed by everyone especially those with knockout curves.

Color – Bold, interesting color has been prevalent in fashion all year and continues into fall. Many women think if you are not a size two you have to wear black to look slim and fashionable. One of the most popular colors for the autumn season is rich burgundy such as this Art of Cloth Zoya Tunic or deep greens such as this Comfy USA Jamie Tunic in deep green. Pair a top in one of these colors with your favorite skirt. On the other hand, really make a statement with a pair of trendy jeans in the shade of your choice and a neutral top. If you just want a small pop of this color, try it in a handbag or shoe.

Denim – Denim has been a fashion mainstay for decades, but this fall season it is very prevalent. Whether you pick traditional blue or bolder colors jeans are top trend. With so many styles and shapes to now choose from in plus sizes it is easier than ever to find a pair you adore. Just like leather, denim can be worn for almost any occasion from casual to even the workplace.

There are many trends that plus size women can take advantage of this season!

With the unofficial end of Summer on Monday, we were doing an inventory of what we had in stock and what was coming in over the next month or so.

Transitioning from one season to another is easy if you do a wardrobe review and make a few small, but significant changes.

Summer Trend #1: The Hi Low Skirt such as this Art of Cloth Kelsey Skirt can be paired with a cardigan, scarf, tights and boots as the weather gets cooler.

The next trend that can transition very easily is the Neon Look such as this button blazer jacket from Neon Buddha.

The key to Neon for Fall is to tone it down a bit with textured, warm and cozy pieces. Try grey bottoms for a toned-down ensemble.

Have you gotten the Shoe of the Season yet? The Ankle Boot like this cute ankle boot from David Tate is the must have item.

So, don’t be sad that summer is over!  Take inventory and make this Fall your best season ever!

I love Fashion Week in New York! Even though we are previewing the season ahead, in this case, Spring ’12, we can identify a few trends that look as though they are here to stay for a few seasons.

Trend #1: Longer length from tunics, to skirts, to dresses.  Check out this Charcoal Skitty Skirt from Chalet.

We see that hemlines are longer, from below the knee to way below the knee.  You will find the longer length is more practical with the cooler weather, just throw on your favorite pair of boots and you’re good to go!

Trend #2 Color, Texture and Pattern

You’ll see a lot of color blocking this season with warmer, richer tones for autumn.  A lot of bold, contrasting patterns  from stripes to tiny florals, mix and match two to three pieces.  If you are a bit apprehensive about color, consider a lovely wearable art piece such as this tunic from Art of Cloth which can be paired with solid bottom such as tights or leggings–be on the lookout for leg warmers–again!  Add texture, but not a lot of bulk with pieces  that have faux fur on a quarter to half of the garment to slub fabrics.

Trend #3 Glam it up! Just a touch of glam from your eye shadow to a top that is embellished with rhinestones and sequins.  Check out this Rodeo tunic from Cover  Charge.

Enjoy wearing all of the plus size fashion trends this fall that can easily be taken from one season to the next.

We have several key items to complete your fall wardrobe.  This season it is about mixing and matching from memorable prints to patterns and texture, finding easy-to-wear jackets and pants suits, selecting classic shades in neutrals to add to your wardrobe and dresses that can go from day to dinner and beyond.

As long as the print colors are true to nature, your animal print will never go out of style.  Check out Simply Silk’s Animal Print Silk Jacket with just a hint of leopard print, this jacket is timeless.

Pair with red shoes to make a statement!

Our Caribe crushed taffeta jacket fits the bill in so many ways.  It is seasonless!  This jacket is packable, comfortable,  and has a crinkle texture. Better yet! You can mix and match with your favorite skirt or pair of pants.

Need a new pant suit? Check out Brooke Chapman’s Bolero pantsuit.  Great to pack and easy-to-wear!  We just love  both the color and the style of this  Neon Buddha shirt tail jacket in olive!

Influenced by AMC’s Mad Men perhaps, this Portrait Dress from Brooke Chapman, from Canada, provides both a flattering silhouette, wonderful texture and the season’s celebrated color combo in black and white.

Here is Shannon Cooney, Head Designer from Pure and Co., and Neon Buddha discussing this season’s trends.  No matter what your shape, make your look work for you! Happy Fall!

It’s that time again when we look at what is in store for Fall ’10!

We are seeing three key trends that are flattering to the plus size woman.

Look for prints, lots of prints and soft, flattering colors like this Sienna Rose Top, easy-to-wear fabrics and clothing that is not too tight, allows for free movement and swings away from the body creating a flow,  almost ethereal look.

Check out my interview below with David Wolfe, Creative Director for The Doneger Group. (You’ve wondered where retailers get their information from? Here’s our secret!)
